Tech giant Google is set to become the first company to use nuclear energy to power its AI-driven technologies and data centers. To achieve this, Google has entered into an agreement with California-based company Kairos Power, according to a report by Reuters.

Under this agreement, Google will source energy from six to seven small nuclear reactors. The first phase of reactors is expected to be ready by 2030, with the remaining ones operational by 2035.

Neither company has disclosed the financial details of the agreement or the specific location of the planned facilities in the U.S. However, Google has expressed interest in purchasing a total of 500 megawatts of power.

Google stated, "Nuclear energy is a source of 24/7 clean power," which will help meet the company's growing electricity demands. This move comes as the demand for electricity increases due to generative AI and cloud services.
